Entering the Home Stretch- Weeks 8 & 9

Well here we are.. I just completed weeks 8 and 9 and I truly feel better than I have in a very long time. I am about 35 pounds lighter, but as I have said before, what is even better than the weight-loss is just the way I feel overall. I have more energy and a brighter outlook on everyday. I don’t know about you, but I use to be one of those people that could never really get into a workout routine. I really didn’t see the point. I felt it was bothersome and cut into my time. Now, I don’t see myself ever looking back. It no longer cuts into my time, it is MY time. It is the time that is truly MINE. I block-out every other distraction and problem of the world and I concentrate on ME. It’s the time I use to not only get into better shape, but to also reflect on me and my goals. Where I am in time and where I want to be. I know this all may sound pretty deep, but I wanted to share my total change I  have gone through in how I think about working out. This has really made a huge impact on me and the way I look at things in general.

 

Well enough about the serious stuff. Now for my sales pitch. Ever heard of those protein bars that are suppose to be a good snack when you are out and need a quick refuel. Well if you have heard of them I bet you also have heard how terrible tasting most of them are. Very dry and pasty. Well Beachbody’s P90X Peak Performance bars are the other side of the spectrum. They come in two flavors, a mocha and a Wildberry. Both are very good tasting which really surprised me. I remember the first time I had one. I was very hesitant and even held my breath when I tried it. Half way through it, I just couldn’t put it down it really was good. Now I eat 1 or 2 a day depending on what my schedule is. If I can’t break for lunch I will have one. I also usually will have one for an afternoon snack. They are very healthy and really fill the void until the next meal.

 

Well, it is now time for me to let you go and get back to my wonderful Beachbody week!!  I am in week 10 now, only 3 weeks left of my first session. When I am finished with this I will be doing it all over again but with a higher level of intensity. Stayed tuned in for all the regular updates as well as little tidbits from time to time.

“A Better You, A Better Life”

Sweatin’ it out, Week 6 & 7

Hello and thanks for joining me in another episode in my story of my own personal transformation.

 

As I mentioned in my last post I was about to leave for a family vacation and it was fantastic. I had never been to southern California, and I have to say I can now see why my girlfriend wants to go back home. It is absolutely beautiful!! We had a wonderful time. I did get my share of physical activity in. We went hiking and did some rock climbing and then there was of course the playing in the pool. Thankfully her parents are also very health weary, so eating right was very easy. I think only one night we went out to Mexican other than that it was very healthy home cooked meals.

 

So then I got back home, got settled down and began to get my mind back to the routine. I wanted to do week 6 over again since it didn’t go very well. So I looked at my schedule and planned out my week. Let me tell you the workouts are really demanding but most of the time I find it harder to get the time needed. That, to me, is the largest obstacle. For most of us it already seems as there isn’t enough time in the day to get our everyday stuff done; now we are adding a workout. This is when you really just have to make the commitment and say to yourself this is my time and put everything else on hold and totally immerse yourself in your workout. Well, enough on that week 6 went much better this time around I really felt as though I had a very successful week.

 

Now on to week seven, it went very well. I still can’t get some of those Yoga X moves down and it really kicks my butt. I know I have said this before, but to all you men who laugh at Yoga. Do this workout and you will forever change your attitude. I still can not make it all the way through the whole thing, although I am almost there!!! 

 Oh yea, before I leave you let me tell you about what happen to me. When I got to California, I realized that I had forgotten to bring my vitamins and supplements. Boy. Let me tell you, I can really feel the difference when I do not take them. I am currently taking the ActiVit® Multivitamin Metabolism Formula; it is a packaged set that contains a Mulitivitamin, a Calcium supplement and an Omega3 supplement. When I don’t take it I can really feel a difference in my energy levels. Since taking it my overall health has improved. I haven’t fallen prey to the horrible flu that has been sweeping the country and I just really have a better attitude about the day. Week 5 & 6 - A New Phase and a Busy Life makes for Interesting Obstacles

Hello to all my readers and I hope everyone is living healthy and feeling good.

Well, the last two weeks have been pretty interesting. Week 5 started the second phase of the P90X workout. Man, it feels great. There are some new workout this week, the Chest, Shoulder and Tricep workout on Mondays is tough, what a way to start a week off!!! Then in the middle of the week we add a Back and Bicep workout. I really pushed hard on that one, the next day I couldn’t straighten my right arm, due to the muscle being so tight, the Pain feels SO GOOD. It’s really days like this that you really have to dig deep and keep pushing on. You need to remember that the pain means your body is getting into shape and soon you will see the rewards. I already can look in the mirror and see lots of changes. I feel the changes as well. The best part of everything is that my girlfriend is constantly saying how much she can see. I don’t know about you, but I look into the mirror everyday and there may be days I get discouraged because I am impatient and I think I don’t see enough change. Then when, out of the blue, my girlfriend or someone that I run into on occasion says WOW you look great, you look like you have lost a lot of weight, it really makes all the hard work and sweat well worth it.

Now on to week six, that wasn’t so great of a week. Remember back in my introduction, I said I was a normal everyday kind of guy who has a very busy life. Well between having to get a major project around the house completed and a very busy work week with my JOB, I wasn’t able to get into full workouts. I did do Abs 3 times a week and I did get a little of a couple of the workouts in, but nothing like I would like. For this reason I am going to redo week 6 again. The problem is that now this week I am going on a family vacation to see my girlfriend’s father in California. I am not going to be able to do the workout there, so instead I will be making sure I fit a walk/jog in everyday and a lot of physical activity in during the vacation. Then when I return, I will resume the workout plan with week 6. Now I know some of you may be asking why I am going to do this. Why don’t I just pickup with week 7 or 8 since I did some of week 6 and I will be exercising while I am on vacation. Well to me, I started this program and I am writing about my transformation during the program, so to be true to myself and my readers I feel it is only right to do each and everyday of this program to the best of my ability.

That is the thing I love the most about the Beachbody programs. Each program, whether it is Turbo Jam or P90X, they provide a vehicle for getting into shape and living a healthy life. They aren’t strict boot camps that say you have to do it this way or you will not succeed. My goal with this company and this blog is to provide a tool and give assistance and support to everyone who has decided that it is time for them to take control of their life and live a strong, healthy, happy life.

Week 3 & 4 - Can even live the Dream while Traveling

WOW..  The last two weeks have been AWESOME!!!  Let me tell you, the P90X workout routine is truly the BOMB!!

 

Since my last post I have finished weeks 3 and 4, and let me tell you it wasn’t easy. I am seeing tremendous results, not only physically but mentally as well. Besides losing another 5 pounds, I really wake-up each morning with unbelievable energy and vigor, I feel as though I can do anything.

 

For those of you who have been reading my blog and keeping up with my progress, you know that I am a very busy person and my biggest obstacle is staying motivated. These last 2 weeks have been no different. To make things worse I was in Las Vegas for week 4, man was that fun. Now I want to clarify a little something. When I say I have a problem with motivation. It’s not always the fact that just wanting to do the workout. Most of the time it’s finding the time to do it throughout a very hectic and busy day. Sometimes I find that when I get that hour or two of downtime I just want to relax, but then I have that little voice in my head saying “You want that body? You want that energy?” Then I just get my mat out and my bands and get to work. WOW do I feel good after that “Peak Recovery Drink”. I really cannot say enough about the Million Dollar Body Club. Chatting with the other members is really inspirational and informative. There are articles on any topic from the exercises to the diets and everything in-between.

 

Week 4 is listed has the recovery week, but man does it have you work. As mentioned I was in Vegas this week. So I packed up my CD’s and made time each day I was in Vegas to do the workouts. Let me tell you that Core Synergistics workout is so good. I really love that one. This trip has shown me that the workouts can be done anywhere you go. Just because you leave town doesn’t mean you can’t keep up with your transformation and keep on the path of achieving your goals of having the body you dream of.

Week 2 – WOW does it feel good!!!

Well I just completed my second full week of being back on the fitness program called Beachbody’s P90X. Man do I feel great.  Let me tell though, staying motivated is a lot easier this time. Thanks to all the people in the Beachbody Community. The Million Dollar Body Club is the greatest way for people to get that extra motivation, as well as any and all information they may need. I have really dedicated myself to reaching my goals. That is a real important part of achieving anything, is having your goals and writing them down. Put them in places where you can constantly see them to remind yourself of why you are doing this.  I have seen some improvement already just from my results of week 1. The Legs and Back workout this week really kicked my butt!  The Ab Ripper X routine kills me everyday, but I push through it. I do as much of the workout as I can do. I haven’t been able to complete the whole thing yet but it gets better everyday. I do all the exercises, but I just can’t do all the reps just yet. Keep reading and watch my progress I will get through it !! Let me tell you I would never be able to make it through the week without the P90X Peak Recovery Shake. This is truly  an awesome drink. It tastes like orange creamsicles and it does really make you feel good and refreshed after your intense workouts. It provides the nutrients your muscles need to heal after those long workouts. Well it’s time to get started with week 3. Come back again and check out my status in the upcoming days.

Welcome, Here is my Personal Fitness Transformation Story

Hello and Welcome to my Personal Fitness Blog. My name is Dean Fordham and I am going to use this platform to share with you my Personal Fitness Transformation and all the challenges and successes involved in this change. 

Let me start by telling you a little about myself. I am 39 years old and a guy that is pretty typical to any other guy out there. I am moderately active and always love doing outdoor activities. I am an avid Scuba Diver, and I love riding my Harley. As far as my physical abilities, I have always been in average shape. My weight would fluctuate between 10-30 pounds, all depending on what was happening in my life. I would go on diet spurts with the occasional workout. 

Last year I really found myself getting into a rut in my life and decided I really needed a change, but wasn’t sure what to change or where to start. I was up one morning getting ready for work and happened to turn on the television and saw an infomercial for Beachbody’s P90X workout program. I was very intrigued and went to work thinking about it. I decided that was it. I needed to get in better physical shape and in doing that, I would better my life in more ways than I knew at the time, but I will get back to that later.

Later that day, I called the number I wrote down and ordered the program. About a week later I received that package and opened it up to find so much more than just an At-home Fitness Program. I found out about the wonderful Online Support System offered by, Million Dollar Body. This support is offered through the Million Dollar Body Club. As a member, a person gets full access to advice and articles written by the professional trainers. There are also message boards where a person can ask questions from other members and coaches in the Million Dollar Body program. It also includes meal plans where you can get  healthy recipes and learn how to create a custom meal plan to suit your individual needs. Then I found out that I could actually win money just for working out. This is done through the Million Dollar Body Game. This system has an area called WOWY (Work Out With You). This area is actually a virtual gym. A person can log into WOWY and see other people from across the country working out at the same time. Each time a person logs in for a workout, he/she will be registered for a daily drawing where they can win cash and prizes.

Well that is enough for now about the system; there will definitely be more about the wonderful system at Million Dollar Bodyin the next chapter. Back to me and my transformation. So I started the system back in October for about 2 and half weeks and then during an outside activity I injured my foot. I couldn’t do a lot of the workouts for almost 6 weeks. I was able to do arms and back, but none of the cardio. This was the area I needed the most help. My goals were to drop at least 30 pounds and build that body that I have always dreamed of. Well this setback really bothered me. I finally got better and was able to workout again.

Remember back at the beginning of this article I said I was just like every other average guy!! Now the holidays were on us and football is in full swing. Let me tell you staying motivated is not easy. I had lost 20 pounds, mainly just by eating right and doing the limited workout that I could do. Now was the hard part, getting back into it full swing. Well, between the holiday traveling, the weekend football gatherings, and a lot of personal issues happening. I just couldn’t get back into the swing of it. I would consistently say I will start tomorrow. Well, tomorrow became next week and then next month. Enough was Enough!!!

I finally said okay this is it..  With the help of the online support system in the Million Dollar Body Club, I made the decision to do this for real and make my dreams of being in shape and having the body I dreamed of a reality. This time I have a real REASON. That to me is the main factor in success; A Persons Reason. If that reason is real and important enough, it will push a person through all the obstacles. My Reason is that my son graduates from high school in the spring. My son is a very good athlete and I want him to be proud of his father and show up there healthy and fit, not big and out of shape. Most of all, as he enters this world of adulthood, he will see that if you commit and dedicate yourself anything is possible.

This past week I started the program again. This time with full force and a desire to reach my goals like never before. I start my second week today. I will keep this Blog updated with my progress as well as with picture of my transformation.
